Dream logic and the irrationality of dreams are reflected in the appearance of objects outside of their conventional contexts. My work is often inspired by dreams and the way memories and images are warped to build spaces that are distorted and unfamiliar. I am fascinated by the ideas of representation and physicality and how the forms I am creating become translations of real objects. By mimicking recognizable objects in unconventional materials, I question the relationship these objects now have with the body; for example, when the anticipated weight or texture of the object is no longer present. Through contrasting materials such as paint and textiles, I aim to mimic the dimensionality and depth of the physical world and the way we experience it.

The fantasy genre, practical film sets and props further inspire my interest in artificiality as they render and translate imaginary images into visible physical forms. With focus towards parodical interventions and the infusion of modern pop culture into established traditions and myths, my work aims to normalize and humour the strangeness of placing things where they would not usually belong. My current work engages with notions of transportation; building unconventional relationships between objects and time periods that do not exist naturally operates to distort timelines and interfere with the ability to pinpoint a clear sense of time and space. In parallel, piecing together a collective of old and new contributes to the illusion of being many places at once. I am also driven to explore how illusionary expansions of space can distort our understanding of a real space. The transitions between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms challenge the perceived boundaries between the real and the unreal by pulling these imagined elements into real space. By constructing and containing these alternate worlds within the established gallery space, these extensions become a way of travelling outside of everyday existence.
