‘Period piece’ 2022, 80x80 cm, oil on MDF

📍 Malmö, Sweden

My work often circulates around being human; the situations we get ourselves into, things we do, how we think and live. These actions of how we live then creates traditions and patterns of behaviour. Through the filter of the vast sources of amateur photography available to us online, different narratives are found. These can be considered universal, obscure, and perhaps evidence of a collective consciousness. For me, the painting process becomes a study of this human culture we’ve created. My paintings then allow me to take a step back, boil down the emotions and attitudes from the versions of ourselves that are exposed by sifting through the internet photo blogs. They are a reaction in the form of a painting; exhaled, over-the-top, and curious.
